First loves, complicated friendships, heartbreak and the awkwardness of figuring out who you really are growing up rarely follows a neat script. A new film is now bringing all those messy emotions together through a young ensemble and a story rooted in the highs and lows of youth. With a fresh cast at the centre and a familiar name backing the project, Don’t Be Shy is gearing up to tell a coming-of-age story with a relatable twist.

Don’t Be Shy OTT release date and platform

Don’t Be Shy will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on September 25, 2026. The coming-of-age romantic comedy is produced by Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt under their banner, Eternal Sunshine Productions.

Written and directed by Sreeti Mukerji, the film revolves around the experiences that often define young adulthood. From first love and close friendships to heartbreak and uncertainty, the story looks at the confusing but exciting process of growing up.

The film has a young ensemble at its centre, with Aarushi Bajaj, Piyush Khati, Ansh Duggal and Bianca Arora leading the cast. Their characters are expected to take audiences through different sides of young love, friendship and self-discovery.

The cast also includes Kunaal Roy Kapur, Anurag Basu, Neha Dhupia and Anju Alva Naik in pivotal roles.

Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt on the film

For Alia and Shaheen, Don’t Be Shy is particularly close to their hearts. In a joint statement, the sisters said the film has been special to them from the beginning and that they are proud to see it finally come to life.

They described the story as an honest take on what it means to be young. According to them, the film explores the friendships that shape people, the first romances that leave a lasting impression and the heartbreaks that become part of growing up.

The sisters also pointed to the film’s central idea of finding yourself. Rather than presenting youth as a perfect phase, Don’t Be Shy looks at the uncertainty and chaos that come with trying to understand who you are and where you belong.

A major part of their excitement comes from the film's young cast. Alia and Shaheen praised the actors for bringing energy, vulnerability and chemistry to their roles. They believe the ensemble adds honesty to the characters and gives the story its youthful spirit.

The film is expected to take audiences into the world of its protagonist, Shy, as she navigates the unpredictable experiences that come with love, friendships and growing up.

Alia Bhatt’s fourth production venture

Don’t Be Shy also adds another title to Alia Bhatt's growing list of projects as a producer. The film is the fourth production venture under Eternal Sunshine Productions, the banner she runs with her sister Shaheen Bhatt.

The production house previously backed Darlings (2022), Alia's dark comedy starring Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew. It was followed by Jigra (2024), in which Alia also played the lead role, and Poacher (2024), a crime drama series centred on the illegal ivory trade.

With Don’t Be Shy, the production banner is moving into a lighter and more youthful space. The film is designed around the emotional highs and lows of young adulthood, with a new generation of actors taking centre stage.

Behind the camera, Ram Sampath has composed the music, while Grishma Shah and Vikesh Bhutani are credited as co-producers.

With its young cast, coming-of-age theme and Alia and Shaheen Bhatt backing the project, Don’t Be Shy will arrive directly on streaming. The film will be available to watch on Amazon Prime Video from September 25, 2026.
