Carrie Underwood, the American Idol alum turned country superstar, will perform just before Trump takes the oath of office at the U.S. Capitol on January 20. Known for her powerhouse vocals and all-American charm, Underwood expressed her excitement. “I love our country, and I’m humbled to play a small role in this historic moment. Now is the time to come together and look to the future with unity,” she told AP.
Meanwhile, the Village People, those iconic disco kings of the 1970s, are ready to get the nation on its feet. Their anthem “Y.M.C.A.”—a surprising hit at Trump rallies—will surely be a highlight as they perform at a pre-inaugural rally and one of the glitzy balls. In a statement, the group shared their belief that music can mend divides: “Our songs are about joy and togetherness. Now is the time to bring people closer after a divided election.”
But the celebrations won’t stop there. Trump’s inaugural committee, led by Steve Witkoff and Kelly Loeffler, has curated a four-day extravaganza. Events include a fireworks display at Trump’s golf club in Sterling, Virginia, a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, and a campaign-style “MAGA Victory” rally at Capital One Arena.
Inauguration Day itself promises all the pomp and pageantry of a blockbuster event. Highlights include a Pennsylvania Avenue parade featuring school bands and first responders, a congressional luncheon, and not one, but three inaugural balls. From the Commander in Chief Ball honouring military members to the Liberty Ball for Trump supporters and the swanky Starlight Ball for high-dollar donors, each promises unforgettable moments. Trump is scheduled to speak at all three, while the Village People will take the stage for an encore at the Liberty Ball.
Other performers joining the festivities include country legend Lee Greenwood and opera star Christopher Macchio, who will close out the inauguration with the National Anthem. Franklin Graham, son of the late Billy Graham, and Cardinal Timothy Dolan will deliver invocations, lending a spiritual touch to the ceremonies.
With all eyes on Washington, the stage is set to project a glimpse of next 4 years of Trump’s America.
