Dolly Parton dies at 80: Trump orders flags lowered to half-staff in music legend's honor
Country music legend Dolly Parton has died, her family said in a statement on Tuesday (August 25). Born into a poor family in Pittman Center, Tennessee, in 1946, Parton began performing and writing music at a young age before rising to become one of country music's most celebrated stars. Following her death, President Donald Trump ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in her honour. “Rest in Peace, Dolly! The World loves you,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
