Dolly Parton, in her statement with People magazine, wrote, ‘As I’ve shared in video messages throughout the past year, I am dealing with some health issues that I just didn’t pay attention to when I was watching over Carl.’ She added that

Parton explained that this was not the first time she had faced health challenges. She recalled that in the early 1980s, she had been unwell for several months due to what she described as 'female issues'. She also said she had struggled with her weight during that period, noting that she had therefore experienced difficult phases with her health before.

Parton also reflected on how living in a 24/7 world dominated by social media has magnified situations in ways that were not seen years ago. She joked that while she once considered herself the ‘Queen of the Tabloids’, she could now call herself the ‘Queen of Social Media AI’.

Dolly Parton on her work and her nephew's note

Despite still recovering, Parton said she continued to work, adding that she had dreamed herself into a corner and still had many things she wanted to achieve. Parton said she would continue working for as long as she could to see those dreams come to life. Concerns about Parton’s health had surfaced earlier in September last year, when she postponed her Las Vegas residency, citing ‘health challenges’.

In his Instagram video update, Parton’s nephew Brian Seaver paid tribute to the late singer, saying she had ‘lived in the light’ and was now in the arms of Jesus’. He also remembered the multiple award-winning artist for opening doors for generations of singers, songwriters, musicians, and dreamers from all walks of life. The family has not disclosed the cause of Parton’s death yet.
