Upasana, the granddaughter of Apollo Hospitals founder Prathap C. Reddy, is no stranger to legacy—nor to the shadows that vast fortunes can cast over families. But rather than allowing wealth to fracture relationships, her family has put pen to paper in the most literal sense. In a recent conversation with influencer Masoom Minawala, Upasana revealed that her grandfather authored a “family constitution”—a formal framework designed to ensure peace amid prosperity.


“We are a business family and a family business. The constitution ensures we never fight over money,” she shared. With over 44 members in the extended family, the idea was simple: settle the big things in writing so the smaller squabbles don’t spiral. “We argue about other things, sure—but not wealth. That’s been taken care of, thanks to his foresight.”

And the sense of community doesn't end at financial clauses. Upasana spoke warmly of her large, close-knit family, which even celebrates Secret Santa traditions together, reinforcing bonds beyond the boardroom.

Upasana’s unique approach to matrimony is equally meticulous. Her marriage to Ram Charan, son of megastar Chiranjeevi, might seem picture-perfect from the outside—but she insists that maintaining it takes intention, effort, and yes, regular “performance reviews.”

“No marriage is easy,” she said candidly. “Like in business, we do quarterly reviews for our relationship. We assess our personal, family, and professional goals to ensure we’re aligned.”

One of the cornerstones of their partnership is communication—something she admits they’re still “building till we die.” Encouraged by her mother’s advice, the couple prioritizes weekly date nights, often held at home with no TV, phones, or outside distractions. “Managing our schedules to be with each other is crucial. These little rituals make a huge difference.”

She also credits their success to mutual respect and emotional security. “Ram is a very secure man. Only a secure man can support a strong woman and push her to grow. We are equals—and that’s our secret sauce.”

Rather than be discouraged, she sought strategy: “I’ve had to stay one step ahead in every situation. I fake it till I make it, but with a plan.”

That plan includes a trusted life coach, whom she consults regularly. “I write things down, find solutions, bounce them off my coach if I’m unsure, and only then do I act. These exercises have helped me tremendously.”

She also dedicates several months a year to updating her skills and knowledge, emphasizing that true confidence is born from constant learning. “You can never have enough knowledge. The more you learn, the more confident you become.”
