Do you want to be successful like Sachin Tendulkar? Follow his 5-point life guide
If there's one person who has mastered his way through, both, the pitch and life, it's the God of cricket, Sachin Tendulkar.

Whether a cricket-buff or not, ask anyone about the Master Blaster, and they'd tell you that he could have them glued to their screens.

Not just on the pitch, Tendulkar has been an inspiration off it too. The cricket legend who recently turned 44, is still trying new things from a singing debut to starring in the docu-drama based on his life.

He recently took to LinkedIn to pen down five strategies that helped him in his life and career. And that post already has 760 likes, 31 comments, and 11 shares (and counting).

Here's hoping we, too, can learn and live like him:

Lesson 1: Leave your ego at the door

Now, this is one that will take you places not just professionally but also personally. As Tendulkar puts it, "there'll always be moments of provocation in any competitive field. The important thing is to take only what helps you move toward your goal and leave the rest."

Emphasising on the need to not let your ego come in the way, he adds, "ego stops you from doing the right things, and drives you to do the wrong things."

And if we could follow this in cricket, shouldn't be too difficult for the rest of us.

Lesson 2: Don't dwell
Had a bad day at work? It's the most normal thing, happens even to the best of us. It's human to feel terrible about it, but holding on to that feeling day after day will only pull you down.

"I made it a habit over the years to avoid reliving my failures, and just focussed on and worked towards my goals.
Dwelling never figured in that equation."

In short, it's okay to be upset but learn to let go.

Lesson 3: Listen to yourself

Free advice is as common as oxygen! People, from your field or not, will always want to tell you how to do a job better, or how you should've done something in a different manner. The key is to hear everyone out, but listen to yourself. At the end the decision should be yours.

Lesson 4: Look for strong partnerships
Bonds matter! Be it a partnership in love, friendship, or work, it's important to recognise what relationships work for you.

As Tendulkar put it, "In cricket, many make the mistake of only considering batting partnerships as important. But I believe that bowling partnerships have equal merit. There's nothing more fascinating to watch than two human beings embarking on a common goal and working together to take their place as part of a bigger dream … a team, a nation."
So, find the partnerships that work for you, and nurture them.

Lesson 5: Don't be afraid to ask for help
Tendulkar's final learning is of utmost importance. Always know that people who love you, your family and friends, will always be there for you. You just need to reach out to them.

Talking about his journey, he said, "Many careers don't involve physical injury. Mine, being a sporting career, had plenty of them. But whether the injury is physical, mental or emotional in one's career, it is important to remember that we are not out there alone."

Celebrate the good times and heal from the tough ones, together.

No one could've summed how to live life in five points better. So do this much for yourself, and learn a little from the man who goes beyond cricket.
