‘Do you ever get confused with Salman Khan?’: Bill Gates teases Khan Academy Founder Sal Khan on his Bollywood connection

Bill Gates recently teased Khan Academy founder Sal Khan for having a similar name to Bollywood superstar Salman Khan.

Khan was a guest at the billionaire’s podcast ‘Unconfuse Me’.

During the interview, Gates asked the entrepreneur if he had ever been confused with the ‘Hum Aapke Hai Kaun’ star. Holding up an image of the actor he said, “If you do a web search on Sal Khan, you might get some of this guy. So, do you ever get confused with Salman Khan?”


Khan revealed that he often received letters from Salman Khan fans who mistook him for the ‘Dabangg’ star. “in the early days of Khan Academy, I got letters from some of his fans saying that ‘I’ve always been in love with you and I didn’t know you could do math and all that’,” he told the ex-Microsoft boss.

Incidentally, Khan had shared the stage with the actor in 2015, during a trip to India. “When I went to India in 2015, we had a live interview on national television between the two of us. Just by virtue of having the same name,” he revealed.

Khan said he often watches Bollywood movies.

Salman ‘Sal’ Amin Khan is an Indian American entrepreneur and educator. He is the founder of Khan Academy, a free not-for-profit educational platform that has produced over 6,000 video tutorials on various subjects such as maths, science, and English. He is an alumnus of the Massachusetts Institute Of Technology (MIT) as well as Harvard Business School.
