Yaseen Khan, who once worked closely with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, has spoken out against the widely circulated belief that celebrity bodyguards earn massive annual incomes running into crores. Addressing the growing chatter in a chat with Hindi Rish he clarified that such figures are often inflated and do not accurately reflect how compensation in this profession actually works.

He explained that social media tends to amplify unrealistic numbers, creating a distorted image of the profession. According to him, bodyguards employed by top stars typically receive a fixed monthly salary. Beyond that, additional earnings may come from separate agreements tied to film projects or advertising assignments. These payments vary depending on the production house or client involved, rather than forming a consistent, high annual package as often claimed.

“I feel social media spreads the wrong message. It’s not like people earn Rs 2-2.5 crore. If someone is a bodyguard for a big star, they have a fixed salary..." he said.

How the Payment System Evolved

Reflecting on his early days in the industry, Yaseen shared that the situation was very different in the past. At the time, bodyguards were not included in the list of crew members compensated by film producers. Only specific roles such as drivers, makeup artists, and spot assistants were officially paid during shoots. Security personnel, despite being present and working throughout, were excluded from this structure.

While working alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Yaseen began questioning this system. He believed that since bodyguards were also contributing their time and effort during film productions, they deserved fair compensation beyond their basic salary. Taking initiative, he approached producers and raised the issue directly. Although there was no formal rule supporting this demand initially, his persistence and professional relationships helped bring about change.

Gradually, producers began offering additional payments for film shoots and promotional events. This shift did not remain limited to one individual. As others in the industry noticed the change, they too started advocating for similar arrangements. Over time, this practice became more common, leading to a broader transformation in how celebrity bodyguards are compensated today.

Reality Behind the High Salary Claims

Despite these improvements, Yaseen remains doubtful about claims suggesting that bodyguards earn extremely high yearly incomes. He emphasized that while special arrangements between a celebrity and their security personnel may exist, such cases are exceptions rather than the norm. Regular salaries, he noted, are far more modest than what is often reported.

From Bodyguard to Entrepreneur

After spending more than a decade safeguarding Shah Rukh Khan, Yaseen transitioned into entrepreneurship. In 2015, he founded YK PROSEC, a Mumbai-based private security company. The firm focuses on VIP protection, event management, and handling high-profile clients, including renowned personalities like Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar.
