Diya Burman, Dabur's next-gen, all set for university life in New York
Given her legacy, a degree in business would seem an obvious choice for the young heiress.

The father and daughter visited US universities last month. “She wanted to look at the East coast mainly. So we visited universities in New York, Boston and Philadelphia,” Delhi-based Burman told ETPanache over the phone. Universities covered included the likes of Dartmouth, New York University ( NYU) and Columbia. “We covered at least 8-10 schools, averaging at two a day,” Burman said. The process typically involves a presentation about the university and a schooling in its history and legacy. A more informal cup of coffee may follow with a known faculty member or two.
In the end, Diya has picked NYU’s prestigious Stern School of Business. Given her legacy, a degree in business would seem an obvious choice for the young heiress. It could be that or her own brush with entrepreneurship. Diya started her own venture, Rog Free, some time back. The idea was to optimise the usage of soap bars by guests at big hotel chains. Her startup collects these bars, melts them, sanitises them and distributes them for free to those who can’t afford soap. University lessons will provide further boost to t h i s y o u n g b u s i n e s s woman in the making.
