LOS ANGELES: Disney is developing a live-action fairytale film centered on an African princess.
Titled 'Sade', the film will be produced by 'Dope' director Rick Famuyiwa.
According to Deadline, the studio bought a pitch from Ola Shokunbi and Lindsey Reed Palmer, who will co-write the screenplay about a young African girl named Sade whose kingdom is threatened by a mysterious evil force and accepts her newly discovered magical powers to protect her people, with the help of the kingdom's prince.
A director has yet to be named. Tendo Nagenda and Zoe Kent are overseeing the project for the studio.

2017 was a year of change for Hollywood in more ways than one. In October, media mogul Harvey Weinstein was accused of sexual assault, by not one but by multiple stars. Accusations against Weinstein led other women to speak up against the likes of Kevin Spacey, Brett Ratner, and a host of other influential men who had misused their power for far too long. And these are the stories that will mark this year.
Despite these odds, 2018 seems to a promising year with filmmakers focussing on the industry’s challenges to make some great movies. And with Steven Spielberg, David Yeats, Christopher McQuarrie, and Gary Ross gearing up to hit the screens next year, we can’t help feel optimistic.
The Jurassic World is returning after three years. And this time it’s a matter of saving the dinosaurs from extinction. Director J.A. Bayona is bringing back Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard in the second chapter of the trilogy that will also see Blue, the last surviving raptor from Jurassic World. Owen and Claire will return to Isla Nubar to save the species on June 22.
What happens when you get some of the best talent in the industry together on one screen? Two hours of non-stop entertainment. The sequel to ‘The Avengers’ and the ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ will see Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk unite with the rest of the Avengers to battle their most powerful enemy yet. If that’s not reason enough to be excited, this will also be the first-ever non-documentary film to be shot entirely with IMAX cameras. So get ready for a mind-blowing cinematic journey on May 4.
Chris Pratt, Scarlett Johansson, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Hemsworth, Zoe Saldana, Tom Holland, Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. - we definitely can’t wait for this!
*Reminder: The first trailer broke the internet with over 230 million views in twenty-four hours!
This one is going to be the game-changing movie of the year. Director Gary Ross has gathered an all female-cast for this heist at New York’s Met Gala. Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna and Mindy Kaling will be joined by Matt Damon for this June 8 release. And the first poster of the film released last week has piqued curiosity if the Girl Gang can outsmart the Clooney & Co version, in theatrics and box-office as well!

The sixth instalment in the action-spy franchise is written, co-produced and directed by Christopher McQuarrie. Tom Cruise is returning, again, with his own stunts, one of which caused him to break his ankle. But the makers maintain that the 3D film is on schedule and will hit the screens on July 27.

Before there was Voldermot, there was Grindelwald (Johnny Depp)!
The sequel to the successful 2016 ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’, this film sees one of the most-loved Harry Potter characters, Albus Dumbeldore (played by Jude Law), recruit Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) to win the battle against the dark arts.
Depp’s casting as Grindelwald had left many fans upset due to the domestic violence allegations against the actor. But both JK Rowling, who has written the screenplay, and the makers have defended their decision saying that it was his ‘private matter’. Directed by David Yeats, who previously directed the first Fantastic Beasts movie as well as the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth Harry Potter movies, this one is out on November 16.
*Note: Get ready to meet young Leta Lestrange (Zoë Kravitz).
More Ryan Reynolds? Yes, please. Always. After ‘Deadpool', Reynolds is returning with the sequel, and hopefully an *Oscar* nomination this time. Let’s pass around the *for your consideration* notes earlier this year!
The recent Disney-21st Century Fox deal raised multiple questions about the nature of the film, with Disney confirming that ‘Deadpool 2’ will stay R-rated. So, yes, Reynolds will still be showing some skin on October 15.

IMDB puts this one in the action, adventure, and sci-fi genres. And with Steven Spielberg at the helm, you can expect all this and more. Starring Olivia Cooke, Hannah John-Kamen, and T.J. Miller, the film releases on September 20.
Our favourite monster family will set sail on their new adventure. Directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, the animated fantasy-comedy film sees Dracula and Co on a luxury Monster Cruise Ship. Starring Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, the film hits the screens on July 13.
