Disha Salian and Sushant Singh Rajput
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has officially closed its investigation into the death of celebrity manager Disha Salian, concluding that she died by suicide, state news reports. The closure report comes shortly after Disha's father, Satish Salian, made fresh allegations linking her death to political figures and demanding narco tests for multiple individuals.

Father's Allegations and CBI's Findings

Media reports from the Hindustan Times and The Times of India state that on March 17, after years of silence, Satish Salian called for justice for his daughter, naming Aaditya Thackeray, Sooraj Pancholi, and Dino Morea as individuals who should undergo narco tests. As per ANI, he stated, "I demanded justice for my daughter. I also demanded protection, even for my counsel. I am ready for a Narco Test. But there should be a Narco Test of Aaditya Thackeray, Sooraj Pancholi, and Dino Morea too. All accused should be tested." However, within a week of his statement, the CBI concluded its investigation, reaffirming that Disha's death was a suicide, reported Hindustan Times.

Closure Report Details

According to Hindustan Times, the report states that Disha fell from the 14th floor of a Malad tower on June 8, 2020, six days before the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, with whom she had worked as a celebrity manager. Investigations revealed that she was under immense stress due to professional and personal reasons.

As per Mid-Day, Disha, employed at Cornerstone Company, was struggling with stalled projects and additionally, her father’s alleged affair and financial mismanagement added to her distress. According to the police investigation, cited by Mid-Day, Disha had lent her father money for business purposes, but it was instead spent on a female employee at his spice manufacturing unit and this betrayal left her deeply upset, a fact she had confided in close friends, including her fiancé, Rohan Roy.

Events on the Night of June 8, 2020

As per Mid-Day, Disha had hosted a gathering at the Malad apartment to celebrate her friends Indranil Vaidya and Deep Ajmera’s birthday. The party, which included her fiancé and childhood friends, involved music and alcohol. Later in the night, around 11:45 PM, she received a call from a friend in London and appeared visibly distressed. Shortly after, she locked herself in a bedroom. When her friends checked on her, they discovered she had fallen from the building.

Mid-Day reported that Disha was rushed to multiple hospitals, including Evershine Nursing Home, Tunga Hospital, and eventually Shatabdi Hospital, where she was declared brought dead. Her body was kept for two days due to COVID-19 protocols before an autopsy was performed at Bhagwati Hospital. The post-mortem report confirmed multiple injuries consistent with a fall from a great height, with no signs of assault.

Legal Developments and Social Media Speculation

According to Mid-Day, the Malwani police had initially concluded the case as a suicide, filing a closure report on February 4, 2021, however, following fresh claims after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, a reinvestigation was conducted. The final closure, cited by Mid-Day, report reaffirmed suicide as the cause, with no suicide note found. Statements from Disha’s friends, parents, fiancé, and other witnesses were recorded. Call data records, CCTV footage, and forensic evidence were analyzed, confirming there was no foul play.

Despite the official conclusion, social media has fueled conspiracy theories. Allegations of political involvement and assault surfaced after Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide. As per Mid-Day, in July 2020, Disha’s father filed a complaint against three YouTubers for defaming his daughter and in 2023, he also filed complaints against former Union Minister Narayan Rane and his son Nitesh, both of whom are out on bail.

Fresh Petition Filed by Disha’s Father

As per Mid-Day and TimesNow, recently, Satish Salian filed a new petition, alleging that his daughter was raped and murdered. The petition names several prominent figures, including Aaditya Thackeray, Rhea Chakraborty, Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi, ex-Mumbai police commissioner Parambir Singh, and dismissed officer Sachin Waze. He is demanding legal action against these individuals for their alleged involvement in the 2020 incident.

Mid-Day reported that when contacted for a statement, Disha’s father did not respond. As per TimesNow, however, his lawyer, Nilesh Ojha, stated, "It is important to note that as per the binding judgment of the Supreme Court, any closure report filed in an enquiry under Section 174 CrPC (Accidental Death Report/ADR) has no evidentiary value and cannot be relied upon by the accused in cases where cognisable offences are clearly disclosed. Therefore, the earlier closure report holds no legal weight."
