Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap released his movie Nishaanchi after his last film in 2022. He recently opened up about his impressive weight loss journey, revealing how he shed 27 kilograms by following just two key steps. His story is not just about physical transformation but also about regaining control over his health and well-being after a tough phase marked by serious health challenges.

How Anurag Kashyap shed 27kg weight?

Anurag’s health struggles began after he suffered a heart attack, followed by several asthma attacks that left him dependent on steroids. Despite being someone who had always been relatively fit and consistent with exercise, he noticed alarming changes in his body, sudden weight gain, hair loss, and premature whitening of hair. These unexplained symptoms left him confused and worried, making him realize that something needed to change.




He tried various treatments and even enrolled in de-addiction programs, but nothing seemed to help in the long run. It was only when he adopted a holistic approach to fitness that things began to improve, told during a conversation with Pema Wellness Retreat. The two main steps that played a crucial role in his recovery were an 11-day liquid diet and practicing yoga, including pranayam (breathing exercises).

What is liquid diet?

The liquid diet, though strict and simple, was designed to give his digestive system a much-needed break. According to Mayo Clinic, a liquid diet mainly consists of clear liquids like water, broth, and plain gelatin, which are easy to digest and do not leave any residue in the digestive tract. This kind of diet is often recommended before or after medical procedures to help cleanse the stomach and intestines.

For Anurag, it helped reduce the strain on his body while providing necessary hydration and giving his metabolism a reset.

Alongside the liquid diet, Anurag incorporated yoga and pranayam into his daily routine. Pranayam, a breathing technique, helped him manage stress better and brought a sense of calm and balance to his hectic lifestyle. He explained that his previous routine was all about work and food, with little time for relaxation or focusing on his own well-being. Yoga and breathing exercises taught him to slow down, reduce stress, and prioritize his health.

This combination of cleansing the body with a liquid diet and calming the mind with yoga brought remarkable results. Anurag not only lost 27 kg but also felt mentally stronger and more balanced. His experience highlights how even small and consistent lifestyle changes can make a huge difference, both physically and mentally.
