Dipika-Dinesh wedding files: A traditional Telugu wedding in round two

After the Christian wedding of squash champion Dipika Pallikal and cricketer Dinesh Karthik came the Telugu ceremony yesterday. This happened in the morning, a day after the Mehendi, and was a very traditional affair. Again, it was a private event, with few Chennai celebs in attendance.

Married!

All eyes were on the pretty bride Dipika,who was dressed in a yellow sari and traditional jadai alangaram. Dinesh was in a silk kurta and panchakacham. All the rituals were followed, and Dinesh even took the Kasi Yatra, amidst loud cheers. He just stepped out for that formality and again got back into the hall. Dipika was accompanied by her mother, her friends and Dinesh’s family members onto the stage, and around 9 am – the muhurtha neram — Dinesh tied the mangalsutra around Dipika’s neck.

The Thaali-Kattu moment

Star guests

From among his cricketing friends, only Lakshmipathy Balaji and Badrinath attended the wedding. Balaji came with his wife, model Priya Thalur. Squash player Saurav Ghosal was not just a guest, he also stood by Dipika’s family throughout the ceremony. Arvind Swami was soon gheraoed by the young girls, who wanted to click selfies with him.



Colour co-ordinated friends

Both, Dipika and Dinesh were quite comfortable with each other and were talking and laughing all through the ceremony. Also, the duo’s friends were colour coordinated – while all of the groom’s friends wore blue shirts, Dipika’s friends turned up in red saris.

When Dipika blushed

A video that was played in the wedding hall made Dipika blush. Dinesh’s family members had compiled a video welcoming Dipika with Omana Penne from Vinnaithandi Varuvaya as the background score.

Selfie time

The couple posed for many a selfie as most of the guests took a selfie with the duo. After welcoming the guests for over an hour on the stage, post the wedding, they came down and spent some time with their close friends and family members. This was the time for a second round of selfies.
