Dilip Kumar 'overjoyed' to hear Lata Mangeshkar is back home, asks her to 'take good care'

The veteran actor called the 90-year-old singer his younger sister.

Veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar, who spent 28 days hospitalised and being treated for pneumonia was discharged on Sunday, and her return home has left legendary actor Dilip Kumar 'overjoyed'.

The 96-year-old took to Twitter to share a picture of himself and wife Saira Banu with Mangeshkar - referring to her as his younger sister.

"Overjoyed to hear the good news that my 'choti behen' Lata, is feeling much better and is at her home now. Please take good care of yourself @mangeshkarlata," he tweeted.



Since her discharge, pictures of the Bharat Ratna awardee at Mumbai's Breach Candy hospital have started doing the rounds on her fan handles on Instagram.


Mangeshkar was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital after she complained of difficulty in breathing on November 11.

A day after being discharged, she had thanked the doctors - calling them her guardian angels, the 'exceptional' nursing staff, as well fans for their prayers, in a tweet.

"Namaskaar, For the past 28 days, I was at Breach Candy hospital..I was diagnosed with pneumonia. The doctors preferred that I extend my stay in hospital and go home when completely healthy. Today, I am back home with the blessings of Mai and Baba I have my deepest gratitude to all my well wishers all over. Your prayers and good wishes have worked and I humbly bow down to each one of you. My doctors at Breach Candy have been my guardian angels and I stand in eternal gratitude to each one of them. The nursing staff has been exceptional. Your endless love and blessings are precious. Thank you, again!," she wrote in a tweet.
