Bengaluru witnessed a rather rare climatic phenomenon on Wednesday evening, April 29. The city experienced an intense hailstorm with heavy rain and strong winds, uprooting trees and flooding major roads, crippling traffic during peak hours. The intense downpour brought down electric poles and damaged parked vehicles. Key junctions and underpasses were submerged, including the KR Circle, forcing police to block access. Fallen trees, stalled vehicles, and waterlogging left commuters stranded for hours. The chaos turned tragic as a wall collapse led to multiple fatalities.

Venkatesh Prasad in Bengaluru hailstorm

Amid this, a video of former cricketer Venkatesh Prasad has surfaced on social media. In the footage, the 56-year-old was seen unleashing the kid inside him. He stopped his car abruptly along the side of the road and hopped out. Reason? He wanted to collect an ice pellet and probably take it home as a souvenir.

The clip captured Venkatesh Prasad quickly but carefully picking up an ice pellet amid the ongoing hailstorm. After that, he turned towards the camera and showed a thumbs-up gesture with both hands. But that was not all. Once inside the car, the ex-cricketer was seen putting the ice pellet in between his teeth, reflecting his spontaneous reaction to the unusual weather. Venkatesh’s mischievous grin said it all.

Sharing the little moment of joy on his X-handle, Venkatesh Prasad wrote, ‘When you get a hailstorm, you do not ask questions, you just become a child again. As they say, Dil toh bachcha hai ji,’ probably referring to the 2011 title track of the Bollywood movie, featuring Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, and Omi Vaidya in key roles.
