Did you know that India's badminton coach Gopichand had failed in Math while in school?
India’s chief national badminton coach Pullela Gopichand has helped the country gain countless laurels. But if he is to keep track of them, chances are he won’t be very good at it. Why? Gopichand failed mathematics in school, and he’s not ashamed of it.

Speaking at an event in Mumbai some time ago, the 44-year-old coach said, “All we focus on in school is alphabetic and numerical literacy and forget about physical literacy. We are more worried about flunking a maths class. I failed a maths class and I am happy that I can still live my life with pride.”

Making a case for sports in education, Gopichand added, “If we want to be happy, sports is fundamentally important and with that, physical literacy. Running, balancing, throwing, jumping, striking are all primarily important for all sports and should be learnt at a young age. ” Point, coach.
