While some netizens praised the unnamed bride for defying societal conventions, many berated her for this stunt. The image was first shared by an X user called Simmi. Dropping the picture, she wrote, "Wtf is a Banarasi Bikini?"

It shows a woman wearing a yellow bikini paired with a veil, holding a varmala, standing opposite a groom in a sherwani. The "bride" is adorned with jewelry and has henna designs on her hands and feet. After the post gained significant attention, a reverse image search traced its origins to a Reddit post under the title "Marriage season."
