Did Thalapathy Vijay’s son Jason unfollow him on social media?
Speculation surrounds filmmaker Jason Sanjay's social media activity amid reports of his parents' marital issues. Actor-politician Vijay's wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, has reportedly filed for divorce. The couple married in 1999 and have two child...

Several online reports claimed that Jason had unfollowed Vijay on Instagram, a development that quickly became a talking point among fan groups. At the same time, some social media users questioned the accuracy of this claim, suggesting that Jason might not have followed his father’s account earlier either. As a result, uncertainty continues regarding whether any change actually occurred. The discussion gained momentum soon after reports about developments in Vijay’s personal life began drawing attention.
The family has remained under intense public scrutiny following claims concerning a possible separation between Vijay and his wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam. According to media reports attributed to ANI, Sangeetha has approached the Chengalpattu Family Court by filing a petition seeking divorce.
The legal filing is said to contain allegations that Vijay was involved in a relationship outside his marriage with an actress. Despite these claims making headlines, neither Vijay nor Sangeetha has released any formal statement addressing or clarifying the situation.
Sangeetha, who has Sri Lankan Tamil heritage and was raised in the United Kingdom, married Vijay in 1999. Before entering into marriage, she held British citizenship and came from a family originally based in Sri Lanka. Her father, described as an industrialist, later relocated and settled in the UK.
Her association with Vijay reportedly began outside professional film circles. Following the commercial success of Poove Unakkaga, she met him during a visit to Chennai’s Film City to congratulate him on the film’s achievement. After their initial meeting, Vijay invited her to his home, where she was introduced to his parents, filmmaker S. A. Chandrasekhar and Shoba Chandrasekhar.
During her stay in Chennai, Sangeetha was reportedly residing near Vijay’s family home. Their acquaintance gradually developed into a deeper bond, and eventually his parents suggested marriage. It is reported that Vijay’s family later travelled to London to meet Sangeetha’s relatives before confirming the alliance.
The couple tied the knot on August 25, 1999, in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony, followed by a reception in Chennai. Although Vijay practices Christianity and Sangeetha follows Hinduism, the marriage rituals were conducted according to Hindu traditions. They later became parents to two children, born in 2000 and 2005. Over time, their children made brief on-screen appearances in some of Vijay’s films, including Vettaikaaran and Theri.
