The excitement around the highly anticipated premiere of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh, is at its peak. However, ahead of the paid preview shows, the film appears to have hit a minor roadblock. According to recent buzz, the Tamil and Telugu paid premiere shows were cancelled in some theatres. However, contrary to speculation, this is not due to Pawan Kalyan’s upcoming film Ustaad Bhagat Singh, which is also slated for release on March 19.

Why Dhurandhar 2's Tamil, Telugu paid premiere shows got cancelled?

The spy thriller, one of the most awaited releases of 2026, was scheduled to begin its special paid previews on March 18 at 5:30 pm across the country. While the excitement around the film remains high, audiences in parts of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana were left surprised after regional language shows were abruptly called off just hours before the premiere.

Instead of the Tamil and Telugu versions, several theatres opted to screen the original Hindi version of the film. This last-minute change led to confusion among ticket holders, many of whom had specifically booked shows in their preferred language. A cinema chain in Coimbatore confirmed the development on social media.

Broadway Cinemas took to X (formerly called Twitter) and stated that, "Dhurandhar: The Revenge - Tamil paid previews scheduled for this evening have been cancelled due to non-availability. Hindi paid previews will be scheduled instead. We are initiating the refunds shortly. We apologise for the inconvenience."

Initial rumours linked the cancellations to the box office clash with Ustaad Bhagat Singh. However, reports suggest that the issue is purely technical and unrelated to competition. The real reason appears to be a delay in delivering the regional versions of the film to theatres on time.

More about Dhurandhar 2

According to India Today report, even Dhurandhar: The Revenge's Hindi version reached cinemas at the last minute, with some theatres receiving the content barely hours before the premiere. Meanwhile, the dubbing work for the Tamil and Telugu versions reportedly had not been completed in time, making it impossible to screen those versions as planned. This delay in post-production ultimately led to the cancellation of regional language premieres.

Despite this hiccup, the buzz around Dhurandhar: The Revenge remains strong. The film boasts a powerful ensemble cast, including R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal in key roles. Trade experts are still optimistic about a massive opening, with expectations of record-breaking box office numbers.

With its global release set for March 19, the film is expected to draw huge crowds despite the minor setback. Stay tuned!
