According to a report by India Today, the complaint was filed at Chandigarh’s Sector-17 police station by a woman from New Delhi. Following a preliminary inquiry, police registered a case under Sections 74, 79, 123 and 126(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Reports also stated that Johray has been granted bail. He has not made any public statement regarding the allegations so far.
Woman alleges she joined Dhurandhar team as Assistant Art Director
As mentioned in the complaint, the woman said she was studying at a government college when her resume was forwarded to the Dhurandhar team through a faculty member. She alleged that she was hired as an Assistant Art Director on September 2, 2025.According to her statement, Johray introduced himself as her mentor and claimed to be an alumnus of Delhi College of Art, which helped establish professional trust. The complainant further alleged that he later invited her to Chandigarh’s Taj Hotel for what was presented as a work-related discussion.
The woman claimed that she initially believed the meeting would include other members of the film crew. However, after arriving at the hotel, she allegedly realised no one else had been invited. She also alleged that Johray repeatedly told her not to discuss the meeting with others as it could impact her professional image.
Allegations connected to Chandigarh hotel meeting
According to the FIR, the complainant said she reached the hotel room around 8.30 pm on September 10, 2025. She alleged that Johray pressured her into consuming alcohol despite her reluctance and later behaved inappropriately during the meeting.The complaint further accused him of making unwelcome advances and engaging in inappropriate physical contact. The woman also alleged that she began feeling physically weak and unwell shortly after consuming the drink. According to her statement, she repeatedly attempted to leave the room but was prevented from doing so.
The complainant claimed that her condition worsened during the night and that she eventually left the hotel the following morning using a bike taxi.
Apart from the alleged hotel incident, the woman accused Johray of later filing complaints against her, which she claimed caused additional mental distress. Police investigation into the matter is currently ongoing, and officials have not shared further details publicly.
