Dhurandhar composer Shashwat Sachdev credits his success to wife, says ‘All of my music is for her.' Who is Shruti, his wife who moved with him to a small 1BHK Mumbai flat ?

Couldn’t get enough of Dhurandhar songs such as Shararat, Gehra Hua? The brain behind those chartbusters was composer Shashwat Sachdev. In a recent appearance on Kapil Sharma’s show, The Great Indian Kapil Show, the composer’s wife, Shruti, revealed their bedroom has a piano. “When we moved to Mumbai, we were in a 1BHK, in which the H (hall) became a studio. So, only the bedroom was left. That’s why we were always in each other’s faces,” revealed Shruti. “After some progress, when we bought a house, I told him, ‘That studio is your space; the house is mine,'” she added.

However, Shashwat argued that he’d have to go to the studio every time he gets a tune; he requested they keep a piano at home as well. He argued that he would need a piano nearby if he was inspired by a tune at night. She finally agreed to have a digital piano at home and made her husband agree to wear headphones.

Shashwat also credited his success to his wife. “All of my music is for her. If I get a little distracted, I also dedicate some music to God; otherwise, it’s all for her,” he said.

In an earlier chat with Shekhar Suman, the ace composer revealed more about how his wife has been integral to his success.

“Magic and my parents have been friends since childhood. We almost grew up together. I fell in love with her before she fell in love with me, and I got married very early in life. When we moved to Mumbai, we were living in a very small one-bedroom apartment. She has worked just as hard as I have. She has a very sharp ear, and I take her critique on my music very seriously. That’s one of the things I admire most about her,” he said.

Sachdev began his musical lessons under the tutelage of Ustad Ramzan Khan, who taught him Hindustani classical vocals. He also mastered Western classical piano. After obtaining an LLB from Symbiosis Law School, Pune, he moved to Los Angeles in 2011 to pursue a career in music. He later relocated to India and got his break with the Anushka Sharma-starrer Phillauri. He also composed four songs for the 2018 Kareena Kapoor hit Veere Di Wedding and went on to receive a National Award for his work in Aditya Dhar’s Uri: The Surgical Strike.
