Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film released in cinemas on March 19, 2026 and quickly became one of the biggest Hindi releases of the year. When and where to watch Dhurandhar 2 in India
While the film started streaming internationally on Netflix from May 14, Indian viewers did not get access to the film on the same day. The overseas release came with what Netflix described as a “raw and uncut” version of the movie.Netflix had announced on social media, “DHURANDHAR THE REVENGE (Raw & Undekha) is coming to Netflix in the US & Canada tomorrow.”
Soon after that announcement, JioHotstar also teased the India release through its social media handles. The platform did not initially confirm a date, but later updates revealed that the film will begin streaming in India from June 4. Reports also stated that the premiere is scheduled for 7 PM on the platform.
The delay reportedly happened because the makers decided to push the OTT launch until after the IPL 2026 finals. Many fans reacted strongly online after learning that the India release had been postponed despite the movie already being available internationally.
Film continues strong run after theatrical success
The spy action drama has managed to maintain momentum long after its cinema release. Reports around the film claimed that it crossed the Rs 1800 crore mark globally, while some updates also mentioned that the franchise overall went beyond Rs 3000 crore worldwide.Backed by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the film features an ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and Sara Arjun.
The film received attention mainly for its large-scale action scenes, patriotic backdrop and stylised spy-thriller setup. Ranveer Singh’s performance also became one of the talking points during the theatrical run.
Delhi High Court clears OTT release with disputed song
Ahead of the OTT release, the movie also became part of a legal dispute connected to one of its songs. The Delhi High Court recently allowed the streaming release of the film despite objections related to the remix track “Rang De Lal (Oye Oye)”, which is linked to a song from the 1989 film Tridev.Justice Tushar Rao Gedela rejected a plea filed by Trimurti Films seeking to stop the OTT release over alleged unauthorised use of the song “Tirchi Topiwale”.
In its observations, the court noted that the movie had already released in theatres with the same track and stopping the OTT release at this stage “would result in an incongruous situation” and be “inconceivable”.
The court further said that the producers of the film, who had invested large amounts of money and effort into the project, should not be placed in a disadvantageous position because of the dispute. At the same time, the court directed T-Series to deposit Rs 50 lakh within four weeks.
