Dharmendra’s passing at 89 has left the film industry and fans reeling, especially as his final Instagram post now feels achingly close to a quiet farewell. The legendary actor, adored across generations for his charm and warmth, died on Monday, November 24. Filmmaker Karan Johar confirmed the news in an emotional social media note. Just weeks before turning 90, the He-Man of Indian cinema had been unwell, leaving behind a legacy that continues to echo through Hindi film history.

PTI also confirmed the news on X. Also, filmmaker Karan Johar shared an emotional message online. He remembered Dharmendra as a towering megastar, a definitive hero in mainstream cinema, and a man whose charm lit up every frame he ever appeared in. He spoke of Dharmendra’s kindness, his warmth, and the love he carried for everyone around him, adding that the loss leaves a space in the industry that can never be filled. A formal statement from Dharmendra’s family is still awaited.

Amid the tributes pouring in, one moment from recent weeks has resurfaced with renewed emotion: his last Instagram post before his hospitalisation. Dressed sharply in a blue suit with a white shirt and printed tie, the veteran actor looked as graceful as ever. What caught everyone’s attention was his reflective caption, which fans now see as a glimpse into his introspective state. He wrote, "Aajkal gham e Dauran se door gham e duniya se door……..apne hi nashe mein jhomta hoon." His children, Esha Deol, Sunny Deol, and Bobby Deol, responded with heart emojis, unaware that it would become his final message to the world.

His death comes only weeks before his 90th birthday on December 8. Dharmendra had been unwell for some time. On November 10, he was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital after his health deteriorated. Meanwhile, the actor continued working until the very end. He was last seen in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya in 2024, where he played Shahid Kapoor’s grandfather. His next film, Ikkis, directed by Sriram Raghavan, is set to release in December.
