Recalling the late BCCI chief Jagmohan Dalmiya’s penchant for safari suits, designers tell us who else could carry off the babus staple.

Rahul Anand: Amitabh Bachchan, President Pranab Mukerjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi carry off the safari suit elegantly. I think safari suits in solid colours with a contrasting element in traditional hues look the best. For instance, a deep blue or charcoal black suit with a saffron pocket square.

Mandira Wirk: Shashi Tharoor has the personality to carry off a safari suit very well as does Modi. Among the Bollywood brigade, Saif Ali Khan is my favourite — he makes the safari suit look classy. For an edgy look, one can play around with pocket squares or buttons. Interesting fabrics like twill or herringbone during winters are also great options.

Ken Ferns: I think Modi looks dapper in a safari suit. It looks like there is a certain thought process to his choice of clothes. Having said that, a safari suit is not exactly a go-to outfit in today’s times, but one can keep it modern and relevant by focusing on the accessories without changing the signature cut of the suit.
