Cut to the present, Demi Lovati has not only celebrated 8 years in recovery but is also awaiting the release of her first-ever cookbook, One Plate at a Time: Recipes for Finding Freedom with Food. According to a report by People, the book will be out on the shelves on March 31, 2026. The Camp Rock star has now shared her complicated food journey in an interview with the portal.

According to Demi Lovato, she never found joy stepping inside the kitchen despite her therapists and dieticians repeatedly telling her that cooking would significantly improve her recovery journey. The singer admitted that she was deeply overwhelmed by food in the initial stages of her treatment. Even going to the grocery store would make her cry inconsolably. Things took a turn for the better when she hit 30.

Recalling an anecdote from her life a few years ago, Demi Lovato revealed that once she was preparing a pasta dish, aka spaghetti squash salad, with her friends. Her maiden cooking venture transformed her idea about food and for a change, she found cooking to be actual fun. That’s when something clicked in her and over time, she started entering the kitchen, confessing that she really enjoyed making different types of dishes. As of now, cooking has become a love language for Lovato.
