1. Delhi to Agra

The Yamuna Expressway which links the Indian capital to the Taj Mahal city is 165 km long. It is considered to be one of the best roads in India. There is an option to stop at Mathura on the way. The road is a drive through a wide and massive road, cutting through a slice of the north of India.

2. Bengaluru to Ooty

The IT city and the famous hill station are connected by the Bandipur forest route via Mysore. The 235 km drive is majestic passing through a national park and offering a chance of deer spotting. The route is replete with waterfalls and lush greenery. The national highway's forest stretches are closed from 9 pm to 6 am; so plot your route accordingly.

3. Chennai to Pondicherry

The 154-km road from the Tamil Nadu capital city to the former French colony Union Territory is a lovely drive, along a coastline with an amazing view of the Bay of Bengal. The East Coast Road is dotted with coconut water stalls for those who need a natural thirst quencher. Have some time on hand? Take a quick break at Mahabalipuram.

4. Mumbai to Mount Abu

The capital of Maharashtra and Rajasthan's only hill station are connected by NH8 and the 758-km road allows a drive through three states. The drive goes through the villages of Gujarat and atop the Aravalli Range. These are good roads with a mix of twists and turns. The dhabas along the road are good for a meal and a break from the 12-hour plus drive.

5. Mumbai-Pune Expressway

A favourite with people from the Maximum City as well as their counterparts in the second largest city of Maharashtra. With the hill stations of Lonavala and Khandala along the expressway, in addition to the beauty of the Western Ghats, the drive is a dream at this time of the year. The 93-km long route is considered as one of the best drives. But do check for traffi c on holidays.
