On Monday, Delhi Police received a rather unusual request from a netizen. What followed was a lighthearted banter that won over the Internet. An X user named Himanshu asked the Delhi Police to find him a “solemate..” to which the social media handle of DP surprised netizens with a witty reply.

“Hey @DelhiPolice, I’m feeling a bit down with ‘Lonely Heart Syndrome’. Could you help me find a solemate?” read the comment. The request came in response to a video shared by the Delhi Police on X (formerly Twitter) on February 22. The video featured RJ Naved of Radio Mirchi and was accompanied by the caption, "Delhi Police reiterates its commitment to serve the people. In case of emergency, call #Dial112."

The Delhi Police’s tongue-in-cheek reply read, “Hey friend, this seems to be a case of ‘Sole’ search! We specialise in catching criminals rather than finding ‘life partners’, unless they are wanted for some crime."

The exchange quickly gained momentum online, with many users applauding the humor and commending the Delhi Police for their engaging social media presence. The lighthearted interaction showcased the department’s ability to connect with the public while reinforcing its commitment to maintaining law and order.

In a recent operation, the Delhi Police arrested a gang responsible for stealing metro cables, a crime that had caused repeated service disruptions on the Pink Line between Majlis Park and Azadpur metro stations on February 3. The gang was led by a man known as ‘Spiderman,’ a nickname earned due to his exceptional climbing abilities. The arrested individuals were identified as Govind Kumar (24), Aas Mohammad (29), and Sushil Kumar (29).

Govind, the mastermind behind the thefts, devised a series of clever tactics to carry out the crimes. The gang would strategically use construction debris to scale barbed-wire fences and gain access to the metro’s electrical system. Their precision and agility allowed them to execute multiple heists undetected, severely impacting metro operations. However, their activities did not go unnoticed.

A special investigative team was formed to track down the culprits. Officers meticulously analyzed CCTV footage from the affected metro stations, studying the gang’s patterns and techniques. Their relentless efforts eventually led to a breakthrough. Govind and Sushil were apprehended following an extensive surveillance operation. During the arrests, law enforcement officials recovered 85 meters of stolen copper cables, which had been stripped for resale, along with a Bolero pickup truck used to transport the stolen goods.

The successful bust not only prevented further thefts but also highlighted the effectiveness of coordinated police work and technological surveillance in tackling organized crime. The Delhi Police emphasized that such incidents disrupt public services and vowed to continue their crackdown on criminals targeting essential infrastructure. Their swift action reassured commuters and underscored the importance of vigilance in safeguarding the city’s transportation network.
