That South Indians read the most number of books is a myth that just got debunked. Turns out the national capital is also the country’s literati capital, with Delhi NCR topping the list of the most well-read cities in the country for the third time in a row, in a survey conducted by amazon.in.

The reading habits of different cities were surveyed by compiling data of all the physical books sold during 2015. At second, third and fourth places were Bengaluru, Mumbai and Hyderabad, respectively.

Amish Tripathi continues to enjoy popularity with the Indian audience. He stood out with the highest number of book sales. And the statistic that didn’t surprise anyone — exam preparation books emerged as the third most popular genre across all cities. Now that is countrymen playing it by the book.
