Delhi Metro, Blinkit, UPI, momos and Indian friends: Israeli diplomat lists what made him fall in love with India in goodbye note

As his three-year stint in India came to an end, Israeli diplomat and former spokesperson of Israel in India, Guy Nir, shared an emotional farewell on X, reflecting on the people, places and everyday experiences that made India feel like home.

In a heartfelt post, Nir looked back on the memories he created during his time in the country, saying that leaving was far from easy. He wrote that he had arrived in India three years ago as an Israeli diplomat but was departing with "a heart full of memories" that he would cherish forever.

The everyday moments he will miss

Rather than focusing only on famous landmarks, Nir highlighted the small, everyday experiences that became an important part of his life in India. He said he would miss his Indian friends, rides on the Delhi Metro, the convenience of Blinkit, the ease of making payments through UPI, and favourite foods including momos, jalebi and kaju katli.


Festivals also featured prominently in his memories. Nir recalled celebrating Holi and Diwali, along with the many "little adventures" that filled his three years in the country.

From Delhi to Kerala

The diplomat also reflected on India's diversity, mentioning how his travels took him from the bustling streets of Delhi to the natural beauty of Kerala. Among all the places he visited, he described the architecture of Akshardham as his personal favourite, saying the monument left a lasting impression on him.

According to Nir, India has a unique ability to become a part of those who experience it.

A heartfelt thank you to India

Nir expressed gratitude to the many people who welcomed him during his stay, saying they made him feel at home throughout his posting. He also thanked India for standing with Israel during difficult times, acknowledging the support he witnessed during his tenure.

Ending his farewell message on an emotional note, Nir reflected on a saying he had often heard before arriving in the country. People say you don't just visit India, you "feel India," he wrote, adding that after three years, he now understood exactly what that meant.
