A Delhi couple's unconventional gesture of compassion has triggered mixed reactions and sparked widespread discussion on social media.

A Delhi couple’s unusual act of compassion has polarised the Internet. Taking to X, a user named Andry Dariz revealed how a Delhi-based couple purchased 5 kg of live fish from local fishermen at Dhanushkodi beach and released them back into the sea. The user was not impressed with the gesture and quipped that the ocean doesn’t need the couple’s charity. “Your brain needed some oxygen. Common sense is clearly not everyone's birthright!!!” they wrote.

Netizens React

The post went viral, gaining over 15K likes. Some X users fiercely defended the couple’s sweet gesture. One commenter pointed out that even if those fish are later caught by fishermen, some will survive,, and the couple’s kindness would have made a difference.

“Bro, that's their wish. They might feel happy knowing they saved those fish, even though there's a chance they may eventually get caught again by some other fisherman or become prey to predators.

But what if even one of them survives and gets to live its full life in the ocean? Maybe that's their intention. We can't troll them without understanding their perspective. At least they can sleep peacefully, knowing they gave those fish another chance at life…” the comment read.

Another pointed out that they did not cause any harm and maybe were observing their own beliefs. “They caused no harm; they’re simply following their beliefs. Are you saying they lack common sense?

In fact, they show more tolerance than you by living by the “live and let live” principle. Before judging others as lacking common sense, examine your own attitude first…” read the comment.
