Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met the team of Aditya Dhar's war film 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' on Tuesday on the occasion of Army Day. She met the actors and director of the movie at Army Chief General Bipin Rawat's event. Sitharam congratulated the team for making a 'slick war movie on the spirit of our heroes.'

The 59-year-old, on Twitter, admitted that although she hadn't watched the movie, she had been hearing 'many good things' about it. She wrote, 'At COAS Bipin Rawat's #ArmyDay "at home", with the team of the film #URITheSurgicalStrike. Yet to watch it, but hearing many good things. Kudos, @RonnieScrewvala @AdityaDharFilms @vickykaushal09 @yamigautam for a slick war movie on the spirit of our heroes! #howsthejosh?'

Actor Vicky Kaushal and actress Yami Gautam, who played pivotal roles in the movie, thanked Sitharam for her words and expressed 'honour' to have met her.

The Kaushal-Gautam starrer is based on the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army on terrorist launchpads across the Line of Control in September 2016. The operation was conducted in retaliation to the terrorist attacks on an army camp in Uri earlier in the same month.
