The announcement did not go down well with Twitterati as netizens were not happy with Padukone’s decision to engage with the WHO chief.
The Covid-19 pandemic has brought the world to a standstill and has had adverse effects on the mental well-being of the global population. Actress Deepika Padukone, who is known for being vocal about issues surrounding mental health, on Sunday, took to Twitter to announce that she will engage in a conversation with WHO Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, to discuss the impact of Covid-19 on mental health.
The announcement did not go down well with Twitterati as netizens were not happy with Padukone’s decision to engage with the WHO chief, who has been facing ire from people for allegedly being ‘too trusting of China’ and ‘not holding it accountable for its early missteps’.
That’s not at all. The WHO has also been at the receiving end of the US President Donald Trump’s wrath, who not only decided to cut WHO funding, but also unleashed a tirade against the organization for acting too slowly around the alarming situation of the novel coronavirus.
Netizens were quick to point out that the ‘Chhapaak’ actress wasn’t making the right choice by engaging in a conversation with Tedros. While some respectfully put forth their opinions, others trolled the actress for her decision.
KRK, often known for his provocative tweets, wrote that Trump has already declared Dr Tedros A.G a ‘fraud’.

Bhaker, all of 17 years old, secured India an Olympic quota at the ISSF World Cup last year. Though she missed out on a podium place in the 10-metre air pistol event in Munich, falling short by just 0.1 points, her fourth place finish was enough for her to qualify for Tokyo. “I think, even if I win the Olympic gold, I will still be hungry. Till the time I’m shooting, I will try my best so that my country feels proud of me.”
