Move over routine sightseeing and flight deals. One-off events have become the new travel influencers for Indians this year. According to a survey conducted across 12 destinations worldwide by Hong Kong-headquartered travel and services booking platform Klook, one-off events are the new crowd pullers instead of flight or accommodation deals that once drove travellers to decide where to go for their holidays.
The survey reveals that about 52% of travellers from India said that they planned trips around seasonal activities or one-off events first and then booked flights and hotels to round-off the itinerary. Among the respondents, 63% of travellers from Thailand, 58% from Malaysia, and 50% from Singapore said they planned a trip for a specific event or a time-sensitive activity, such as maple leaf-viewing in South Korea, sakura season in Japan, a music festival in the US, a concert in Macau, or a special art exhibition in Singapore.
