Four days after the Christchurch mosque shootings, actor Dev Patel's 'Hotel Mumbai', based on the 26/11 terrorist attacks in Mumbai, was pulled down from theatres in New Zealand. The film, directed by Anthony Maras, is centered around the staff of the Taj Mahal hotel in Mumbai who risked their lives to keep guests safe during the dastardly four-day attacks.
Friday's Christchurch attack, that killed 50 and left several others injured, is being touted as the deadliest mass shooting in modern New Zealand history.
According to reports, the Anupam Kher-starrer will not be screened in any of the theatres in New Zealand. Also, all promotional and advertising activities for the film have been paused.
The movie opened across the country last Thursday. However, after the attacks that took place on Friday, Australia's Icon Film Distribution suspended screenings until March 28. The film raked in $118,000 during the first four days of release, being surpassed only by 'Captain Marvel'.
The film also stars Armie Hammer, Nazanin Boniadi, Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Anupam Kher and Jason Isaacs in pivotal roles.

On Friday, an open gunfire was targeted at two mosques in Christchurch, Al Noor Mosque and Linwood Islamic Centre, and killed 50 people. The attack left several others injured, casualties included 9 Indians as well. The 28-year-old Australian citizen suspected of the attack, Brenton Tarrant, was charged with murder on Saturday. Tarrant, who allegedly live-streamed the attack on Facebook, was remanded without a plea and is due back in court on April 5 where, according to the police, he is likely to face more charges.
