LOS ANGELES: "Selma" star David Oyelowo's epic facial and hand expression is being noted as the most appropriate description of Neil Patrick Harris' turn as the host of the 87th Annual Academy Awards.

As the ceremony ended, several took to social media platforms to express their feelings about Harris's debut Oscar act and found Oyelowo's animated gesture perfect to sum up his performance.

Oyelowo enthusiastically took part in a bit with Harris, which tested whether or not everything truly does sound better in a British accent.

Giving him the set-up of a joke, Harris let Oyelowo tell the punch line to see if it went over better with the crowd.

"This year, we said goodbye to some beloved movie franchises," Harris began, with Oyelowo eventually taking over and saying, "We saw the last ever attempt to remake Annie."

After a pretty meager laugh from the audience, Oyelowo appeared pretty unconvinced that the theory was true and made a face and shook his hands showing the joke did average.

41-year-old Harris has been subjected to criticism for not living up to the expectation and delivering a rather flat performance all throughout the ceremony.

Hosting Oscars is considered one of the most thankless jobs as very few measure up to the build up.
