Darshan Murder Case: Who is Pavithra Gowda, arrested alongside Kannada star in Bengaluru killing investigation

Darshan Thoogudeepa, the Kannada actor, was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the murder of Renuka Swamy in Bengaluru. Alongside him, Pavithra Gowda, his girlfriend, has also been detained as one of the suspects in the case. Once an aspiring actress, Gowda now finds herself at the center of a high-profile murder case. Who Is Pavithra Gowda?

Pavithra Gowda is a notable figure in the Kannada film and television industry, having worked in films such as 'Chatrigalu Saar Chatrigalu,' 'Agamya,' and 'Preethi Kithabu.' She debuted in Kollywood in 2016 with the film '54321.' Beyond acting, Pavithra is also a model, artist, and fashion designer, running her boutique, Red Carpet Studio 777, which specializes in traditional sarees and outfits.

Earlier this year, Pavithra caused a stir on social media by posting a video celebrating her decade-long relationship with Darshan. This was particularly controversial as Darshan has been married to Vijaya Lakshmi for over 20 years.

Darshan's Murder Case

The victim, Renuka Swamy, a 33-year-old resident of Chitradurga, was found dead at the Sumanahalli Bridge in Bengaluru. Police sources revealed that Swamy had posted offensive comments on Pavithra's social media, accusing her of disrupting Darshan's marriage. These comments allegedly included objectionable language and harassment, which are being investigated as possible motives for the murder.

A total of 13 individuals, including Darshan and Pavithra, have been arrested in connection with this case.

Pavithra Gowda and Darshan

Pavithra Gowda has reportedly been in a relationship with Darshan for over a decade. Despite Darshan's marriage to Vijaya Lakshmi, their relationship has persisted, becoming public knowledge only in recent years. Pavithra's attempts to gain significant roles in the film industry were largely unsuccessful until she befriended Darshan in 2014. Since then, they have maintained a close relationship, though not widely acknowledged until 2017.

Darshan's Strained Relations

Darshan's relationship with his wife has been troubled for years. In 2011, Darshan was accused of assaulting Vijaya Lakshmi, resulting in jail time and a strained marriage. During this period, Pavithra Gowda became close to Darshan. The couple's relationship has been a point of contention among Darshan's fans, with divided opinions on his association with Pavithra.

Earlier this year, an Instagram battle erupted between Pavithra and Vijaya Lakshmi. Pavithra posted a video marking ten years of her relationship with Darshan, which was met with criticism from Vijaya Lakshmi, who posted rebuttals highlighting her family's unity.

Darshan's Arrest and Investigation

Following derogatory messages from Renuka Swamy, which included lewd comments and harassment, an investigation led to the arrest of 13 suspects, including Darshan and Pavithra. They were produced before a Bengaluru Magistrate court and remanded to six days of police custody as the probe continues.

As the investigation unfolds, more details are expected to emerge about the circumstances leading to Renuka Swamy's death.
