'Dangal' tax sop: Aamir Khan wants Mahavir Singh Phogat's tale to reach far and wide

Aamir Khan has brought former wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat's life its long-overdue acclaim since the announcement of his film ' Dangal'.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film is based on the life of Phogat, his two wrestler daughters and their struggle towards glory at the Commonwealth Games in the face of societal oppression. Geeta Phogat went on to win India's first ever gold medal in wrestling at the Commonwealth Games in 2010.

The sports biopic is set to release on December 23, and Khan has said that the makers of the film will apply for tax exemption.
