If you’ve got paternity leave, consider yourself one of the few lucky ones. Make the most of this time by following these tips:
Time is right They say a woman becomes a parent when she gets pregnant and a father, when he holds his baby for the first time. Try to take your paternity leave when the baby actually arrives.
While planning for the arrival will be stressful closer to the due date, you need to find a way to juggle your work and personal commitments to get everything done; because once the baby comes you’ll want to spend every day that you can with the latest addition to your family. Plus, you know you have nine months, so get cracking.
Mundane Monday You and your partner brought new life into this world, but let’s be honest — she did the real heavy lifting for this one. With the arrival of the newborn, a new mother will feel she has no time to eat or sleep, forget anything else. So, while you may expect your primary role to be taking care of the baby, it is actually taking care of your partner and the baby.

So, do the household chores so she is not preoccupied with them, take care of things around the house and remember to have patience. Your partner will ask, you have to execute, not question and certainly not complicate.
Divide and rule The best way not to complicate your living situation is to have a set of guidelines that help you understand your roles. Maybe she’s good at feeding the baby, maybe you’re the expert in calming her down, each of you will have your strengths, which will make the task of raising a newborn easier. So, chalk up a flexible list of chores and see who is doing what, so that you feel important, don’t get in each other’s hair and actually know the plan of action. Older kids If you’ve already got older children, then your paternity leave needs to make sure you focus on parenting them as well. While this time may be an emotional roller coaster for your wife and you, your older children will also be more demanding and in need of attention during the time. So, take the older ones out every day if you can when you’re on leave. Not only will it give you a great time to connect with your older child, it will allow your wife to give her undivided attention to the new baby.
