Dacoit OTT release date and platform: When and where to watch the Telugu action-thriller starring Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur

The Telugu action drama Dacoit is slowly heading toward its digital release after completing its theatrical run, and there is already quite a bit of chatter around when and where audiences will be able to watch it online. The film, led by Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur, released in cinemas on April 10 and opened to mixed reactions. While it managed to pull some crowds in metro cities, its performance remained uneven overall, especially in smaller markets.

As per 123 Telugu, Dacoit is expected to arrive on OTT on May 8, 2026. The date has been widely circulated across platforms, including a report by Deccan Chronicle, although there is still no official confirmation from the makers. If the timeline holds, the film will land online within about four weeks of its theatrical release, which is becoming more common now for films that do not sustain strong box office momentum.

The movie is also expected to stream in several languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam. This wider release could help it reach audiences who skipped it in theatres.


There is still some uncertainty about which platform will stream the film. Early reports suggested that Amazon Prime Video had secured the digital rights. However, more recent updates claim that Netflix has acquired the film.

This back-and-forth has led to confusion among fans, especially with the expected release date getting closer. As of now, viewers are waiting for an official announcement to clear things up.

Box office performance and early digital move

The film’s box office journey has been moderate so far. According to trade tracking website Sacnilk, Dacoit collected around ₹35.68 crore in India within 19 days. Overseas earnings stand at ₹13.58 crore, taking the worldwide total close to ₹55 crore.

Despite decent numbers in select urban centres like Hyderabad and Bengaluru, the film struggled in smaller towns and faced competition from Bhooth Bangla starring Akshay Kumar. This seems to be one of the reasons behind the relatively quick move to OTT.

Story and cast details

Directed by Shaneil Deo, Dacoit marks his debut and blends action, romance, and crime elements. The film follows the journey of an angry convict who escapes prison and sets out to take revenge on his ex-girlfriend who betrayed him.

Describing the film, Adivi Sesh said it is “a modern-day Romeo and Juliet set in a world that feels very real and grounded.”
As the story unfolds, what begins as a revenge plan slowly turns into a deeper emotional narrative involving love, heartbreak, and betrayal.

The film also features a strong supporting cast including Anurag Kashyap, Prakash Raj, Atul Kulkarni, Zayn Marie Khan, Kamakshi Bhaskarla, and Sunil.
