Da Milano CEO thinks one can never go wrong with a classic, black suit

Sahil Malik said that Emporio Armani suits are perfect for any occasion.

Sahil Malik said that he would never borrow a suit.
For Sahil Malik, CEO, Da Milano, it’s the little touches that elevate a look:

Style code
My preferred suit style is business casual as it’s the perfect attire for office and day wear. I love to wear shades of blue.

Signature elements

I have a lucky pocket square that I have been using for ten years for important occasions. I have a feeling that whenever I wear it, things go in my favour. I also have a customised pair of cufflinks that my wife gifted me for our first anniversary. They have the letter ‘S’ and I love them. I use them for special occasions.

Starting young
I wore my first suit to my graduation ceremony in college. But the first time I looked good in a suit was with a made-to-order black one that I wore for my first business meeting. I sourced the fabric myself from the market and got it stitched by my tailor. Wearing that suit gave me confidence.

A suit fauxpas I’d never make is…

Borrowing a suit. For me, the fit is most important. I get most of my suits from Suit Supply London. They are great value for money and have a great fit.

Brand speak
Emporio Armani suits are perfect for any occasion; be it a business meeting, a big conference or cocktails. Their suits are comfortable, yet stylish. When I want to stand out, I pick a Paul Smith suit. They are edgy, with vibrant colour options.

Dream suit
I have always admired Tom Ford suits, but found them expensive. Only recently I got my hands on one. The fabric, style and fit are perfect. It is any man’s dream suit.

The rock band ZZ Top famously sang, ‘Cause every girl crazy ‘bout a sharp dressed man’. A contemporary version would leave no scope for sexism. It would have odes to disruptive dressing. In short, it could be inspired by the ET Awards for Corporate Excellence 2019. Achievers from various fields and of both genders mixed classic with playful as they glided in for the year’s biggest event.

From pops of colour to cool combinations, disruptive innovation was the order of the day, delivered piping haute by the evening’s most stylish guests.

“I just dress the way I like. My wife Gayatri told me that everyone is going to be in black or blue, so when I was pulling my suits out, she told me to wear this lighter suit as it would be different and match the outdoor setting. I’ve paired it with a Gucci pocket square.”
