Cristiano Ronaldo to venture into movies?
In a surprising yet exciting crossover between elite sports and cinema, global football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has joined forces with acclaimed British filmmaker Matthew Vaughn to launch UR•Marv, a new independent film studio that merges the worlds of sports and storytelling. The venture reflects their shared passion—Ronaldo for cinema and Vaughn for sports—along with a desire to tell compelling stories using cutting-edge technology while respecting traditional filmmaking roots.

According to the announcement, two action-packed films have already been completed under the UR•Marv banner, with a third currently in development. All three are part of an interconnected series, with details about the first film expected to drop soon.

Announcing the venture on social media, Ronaldo tweeted: “And action! I'm excited to announce UR•MARV, my new film studio with Matthew Vaughn, and can't wait to tell you about our first movie. Coming soon! ” The announcement has already generated significant buzz across entertainment and sports communities alike.

For Ronaldo, this move is part of a broader shift into the business and media world as he looks beyond the football field. The Portuguese superstar has been steadily building his presence off the pitch—most notably by becoming a key investor in Medialivre (formerly Cofina Media) in 2023, and launching his personal YouTube channel, UR Cristiano, in August 2024. The channel gives fans a personal look into his life, mixing lifestyle content with behind-the-scenes challenges.

“This is an exciting chapter for me, as I look ahead to new ventures in business,” Ronaldo said of the new studio. And while the transition from athlete to media mogul might seem unexpected, his track record in branding and innovation suggests he’s playing a long-term game.

Matthew Vaughn, on the other hand, brings a powerhouse résumé from the world of cinema. Known for his sharp visuals and fast-paced storytelling, Vaughn has directed cult favorites like X-Men: First Class, and the wildly popular Kingsman franchise. In 2024, he helmed Argylle, a star-studded spy thriller featuring Henry Cavill and Bryce Dallas Howard. Praising his new partner, Vaughn said, “Cristiano has created stories on the pitch that I could never have written, and I look forward to creating inspiring movies with him – he’s a real-life superhero.”

The official release of the first movie is expected to be announced soon, signaling the start of what could be a thrilling franchise.
