Cricketer Shreyas Iyer talks wheels with teammate Suryakumar Yadav; would call his car 'Queen of the South'

My first car “The first car I bought was the Hyundai i20 Sportz. I used the little money I had earned after playing Under -19 to buy it. I’m a car fanatic. I’d choose a car over a house. I still own it. My sister uses it currently, though she seems to have damaged it now. I sometimes use it for short drives.”
Currently I drive… “A white Audi S5 that I have wrapped in nardo grey. It really stands out because of this combination. I love speed and when it takes off, it takes off really fast. The pickup is amazing. It hits 0-100 in 4.5 seconds. It’s the best car I’ve driven so far.”
Memorable trip... “It has to be the drive to Lonavala on a rainy day in my i20. I had to reach this place in one-and-a-half hours. Driving on the highway was a great experience. You hardly get any patches or potholes on the road.”
My dream car “The Lamborghini Aventador. It’s fast and has a great sound. I want to get a taste of the interiors and the feel of driving a Lamborghini. It’s a real head-turner.”
Talking wheels “I talk cars with my teammate Suryakumar Yadav. He has a few cars which he keeps modifying every now and then. He had a car which he changed colours from yellow to matte black to orange. He has good contacts, especially when it comes to maintenance. He is my go- to guy.”

Suryakumar Yadav (L) is Iyer's (R) go- to guy for cars. Top tip “Wrap your car as it saves the original colour from damage. Even if it gets scratched, the original colour stays. I have always been a fan of car wraps. When your car is not in use, always keep it covered and of course, always wash your car clean.”
A name for your car… “I’d call it ‘Queen of the South’ as I live in South Mumbai. I’m also watching a series of the same name. My car seems to have the same personality as the Queen of the South and I feel it’s the only car with that colour combination in the city.”
For a big awards night I would arrive in… “A Mercedes G 63 AMG, because I feel that car exudes a great personality and says a lot about its owner too.”
