'Court' out, four other Indian films on final Oscars list

PANAJI: 'Court', India's official entry to the Oscars, has failed to find a mention in the list of films eligible for the 88th Academy Awards. But four other Indian films -'Nachom-ia Kumpasar' (Konkani), 'Jalam' (Malayalam), 'Hemalkasa' (Hindi) and RangiTaranga (Kannada) -have made it to the 'final' list of 305 films. The jury will watch the films from this final list and pick the winners.
“It feels good because the film has reached this stage purely based on merit,“ Bardroy Barretto, director of 'Nachom-ia Kumpasar', told TOI.His film will compete in the best foreign film and best background score categories.

'Jalam', directed by M Pad makumar, is about the challenges faced by a widow. 'Hemalkasa' is a biopic of humanitarian Dr Prakash Baba Amte and his wife. 'RangiTaranga' is a crime thriller.
