'Court', Konkona Sen Sharma win big at South Asian Film Festival

MUMBAI: Bengali movie "Kadambari" has bagged two major awards at the Washington DC South Asian Film Festival, including the best film honour and the best actress trophy for Konkona Sen Sharma, while India's Oscars entry "Court" took home the best director gong for Chaitanya Tamhane.
"Kadambari", directed by Suman Ghosh, also stars Parambrata Chatterjee and is based on the life of late poet Rabindranath Tagore and his controversial relationship with his sister-in-law Kadambari Devi.
An elated Konkona took to Twitter to share the news with her fans.
"Thrilled to have received Best Actress award at the Washington DC South Asian Film Festival! 'Kadambari' Best Film & Court had Best Director!" the 34-year-old actress tweeted.
"Court", a poignant commentary on India's judicial system, is Tamhane's directorial debut.
Besides being sent for 88th Oscars as the country's nominee in the best foreign film category, it won the National Award for the best movie, earlier this year.
The three-day festival (September 25-27) closed with with a movie "RoughBook", directed by Ananth Narayan Mahadevan.

The National award-winner was known for acclaimed movies like "Unishe April", "Raincoat" and "Antarmahal".
