Harley-Davidson Motor Clothes’ creative head, Karen Davidson is the definition of cool in her black jeans and leather jacket and of course, a motorcycle never too far off. But, we would expect nothing less of the great-granddaughter of Harley-Davidson’s co-founder William A Davidson.
Davidson, who joined the family business of bikes, back in 1989, loves designing clothes for the brand and insists that there was no pressure to join the family business — it was just that the timing was right.

“I take a lot of inspiration from Indra Nooyi, CEO of PepsiCo. She is an accomplished business leader who describes herself as an ordinary woman born in a conservative and middle-class family. Being a woman and immigrant made it thrice as difficult for Nooyi to reach this position. But her mantra of working twice as hard as her male counterparts has set her apart. Her rise to power has lit up a fire in every aspirant and proves that nothing is impossible if you are determined.”
When asked whether her last name has been a boon or bane in the industry, Davidson insists she’s never got special treatment because of it. “I haven’t ever thought about that because I never used my surname for anything special. But may be for customers they feel good as they could talk to a family member in the industry,” she says.
