What is the story of Sree Vishnu’s Comrade Kalyan?

Set in 1992 near the Andhra Pradesh-Odisha border, the film follows Kalyan, a struggling theatre operator who screens revolutionary films to keep his business running. His life takes an unexpected turn when he falls in love with Sitara, played by Mahima Nambiar.

Sitara’s family is dealing with a debt of Rs 5 lakh and is under pressure from Biswas, a moneylender who wants her to marry him. Determined to help Sitara, Kalyan looks for a way to arrange the money.

He teams up with his friend Dubai Babu to come up with an unusual plan. The two decide to present Kalyan as a wanted rebel so that they can claim a government rehabilitation reward. However, their plan quickly goes wrong.

Both the authorities and actual rebels begin mistaking Kalyan for a notorious revolutionary leader. He soon finds himself caught in a situation far more dangerous than he expected.

Kalyan must then deal with George Kutty, a determined police officer, and a group of rebels. The disappearance of a prominent leader adds another complication, forcing him to use his wit to escape the growing trouble while trying to win Sitara’s hand in marriage.
