Hindi remake of 'Soorarai Pottru', starring Akshay Kumar, will have new tunes and songs

Composer GV Prakash Kumar has finished recording 3 songs for the official Hindi remake.

The story of 'Soorarai Pottru' was partly inspired by events from the life of Air Deccan founder Captain G R Gopinath.
'Soorarai Pottru' is riding high on its recent accolades.

The movie, which was released during the pandemic on November 12, 2020, received five National Film Awards on Friday.

The National Award-winning movie bagged prestigious titles - Best Feature Film, Best Actor for Tamil star Suriya, Best Actress for Aparna Balamurali, Best Screenplay (Sudha Kongara and Shalini Ushadevi) and Best Background Score for Prakash Kumar.


Music composer GV Prakash Kumar recently hinted that an official Hindi remake is in the works for the Tamil blockbuster. He took to Twitter on Sunday to inform his
6.3 million followers that he finished recording three songs for the Hindi remake of the film.

"Will be a completely fresh album with new tunes and songs, and new background score… super charged about it," his post read.

The singer-composer also tagged the 2020 film's director Kongara, lead actor Suriya and Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar.

According to reports, Kongara will direct the Hindi project, and the 'Sooryavanshi' star will essay the role of Maara - originally played by Suriya in 'Soorarai Pottru'.

The story of the movie has been partly inspired by events from the life of Air Deccan founder Captain GR Gopinath.

'Soorarai Pottru' is based on the story of Nedumaaran Rajangam (also known as 'Maara'), played by Suriya, who wants to launch his airline service to make flying accessible to the common man. In the process of setting up a name for himself in the world's most capital-intensive industry, his sheer will and help from friends and family make him a successful businessman.

Right after 'Soorarai Pottru' bagged 5 National Awards, the 'Hera Pheri' actor congratulated the cast and crew of the movie on social media.

Kumar said he was over the moon to see the 2020 film win the 'top honours' at the National Awards. "Heartfelt congratulations my brother Suriya, Aparrna and Sudha. Humbled to be working in the Hindi adaptation of such an iconic film," Kumar's tweet read.

Kumar began filming for the project in April, this year. The Hindi remake also stars Radhika Madan.
