Commerce & Connors: When the new NSE Director met friends at the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association
Vikram Limaye, the new NSE (National Stock Exchange) director, caught up with his friends last week at the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA) in Mumbai . The bunch had a quiet party in the MSLTA lounge.

Limaye is a part of the Indian cricket board’s interim committee. But his deeper connection is with tennis. He was a ranked player in his youth. “I still play once a week at Shivaji Park,” said the unassuming banking stalwart, wearing a half sleeves Ralph Lauren shirt.

Asked who his favourite player was growing up, he said, “Jimmy Connors.” Connors was the Rafael Nadal of his time, a fierce competitor who chased down every ball. And Limaye, along with his fiscal acumen, will need some of that Connors grit to resolve the complex issues plaguing the cricket board.
