Comic artist Vir Das launches range of craft beer ‘Faaaak It’, calls it a drink for everyone

Actor Vir Das is among the biggest names in the Indian comedy circuit. Das who has worked in numerous films is one of the most globally recognised Indian comedians. The 42-year-old is set to scale new heights with his first venture in entrepreneurship. Das has launched his craft beer – Faaaak It. This essentially means all those who enjoyed his comedy will now be able to consume his humour with a dash of chilled beer.

Vir’s craft beer is being distributed by one of the most prominent craft breweries - the Great State Aleworks. Vir and his team spent over a year in their pursuit of the perfect flavour. The actor believes that the confluence of comedy and chilled beer is the best way to have a good time making it the best combo for his first step into the world of business.

The latest craft beer offers a clean, crisp, and easy drinking experience. Faaaak It will be available across Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, and Hyderabad.


“Our motto was to spread happiness. And, after a maybe stressful day, you might want to literally say Faaaak It and have a can of beer to unwind yourself. Also, we wanted the beer to be for everyone, far often brands tend to alienate beer drinkers like the younger demographics or even women, and we wanted this to be for everyone. The team at Great State Aleworks and I spent a good deal of time to find a flavour profile that can be enjoyed by all,” said Vir Das.

Indian beer drinkers have been served mass-produced brews for several years. However, the scenario changed in the late 2010s with the emergence of craft beer Bira91 in 2015. For many microbreweries were a distant concept in the beginning, however, in the last decade numerous microbreweries have been established across India.

Some of the most notable names in the craft beer industry are Great State Aleworks, White Rhino Brewing Company, Gateway Brewing Company, Briggs Brewery, Brew Whale, Doolally, White Owl Brewery, Kati Patang, Simba, etc.

The global craft beer market stood at USD 108.9 million in 2018 and it is expected to grow up to USD 186.6 million by 2025 with a CAGR of 8%. In India, craft beer currently has around 2 to 3 per cent share in the beer market. The sales of craft beer are expected to see a hike of up to 20 per cent in the next two years.
