The New Year is the time when people will be embracing warm neutral colours.
Krsnaa Mehta, Founder & Executive Director at India Circus, A Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd shares design trends for the year ahead.

Big in 2020: We will see a lot of design with geometry and foliage. Dusky pastels are also something one should look forward to in 2020. Floral patterns are something we will leave behind in 2019.

Colour code: The New Year is the time when people will be embracing warm neutral colours. Beige will make a comeback. Apart from that watch out for rich hues, these will be tones that are dark but that considered a new neutral.

Do it up: When adding elements to brighten up your home, you must use the right combination of colours depending on the natural light every room gets. So, if the room well-lit in natural light, then dark colours work well and if it is not, then light colours are preferred. Accentuating your home always adds a refreshing look and doesn’t cost much either.

Festive decorating: Make sure to use colours such as green, red and glitter. These are the top three colours of the festive décor this season. Glitter, garlands, snowflakes, holiday scents, Christmas sweets, candles and so on are a must have during the year end. Try to incorporate these elements around your home.

Gift guide: If you know the person, then you can personalise something or buy something that person likes. For instance, if he/she is fond of bags, wallets or fragrances, then you can look at picking that up. Apparel gift vouchers are the best at times.

If you do know the person, then you can look at curating a hamper with chocolates, flowers and Christmas sweets. The hamper, being gender neutral is something one can easily look at picking up from their nearest supermarket. Most of them keep seasonal hampers and it is easy to even curate one.
